Merry Christmas

This Christmas has not been exactly the way I planned it when I retired this year. I was so excited I would have lots of time to decorate and make all the things I have planned. Sometimes things happen to put a ringer in it! For the last couple months I have been dealing with lots of pain on my right lower half of my body. The doctors tried medicines, but did not seem to work. After xrays and MRI they figured out what was wrong and now no surgery. They gave me some steroids and other pain medication and I started physical therapy, but still not much difference. Today, the doctor is trying something else in hopes I have a pain free holiday. It will just take some time, but I am so disappointed I did not get to do all those things I planned. I do have the shopping done and wrapped and hopefully tomorrow I will feel like baking. I still have so many blessings to be thankful for. I have a great husband who is my rock, two wonderful sons who were lucky enough to marry terrific girls. I love them like they were my own, and blessed me with 3 of the most beautiful grandchildren. I am so looking forward to them opening their gifts and see their joy, after all that is what is about. Thank God for all our miracles that surround each of us. Now I can fight through this pain a little longer and I know he will keep me in his hands and will be alright. Merry Christmas to all my crafting friends and I can't wait to get back at it soon with lots of goodies to share.

Paper Cutz Challenge #72

This weeks challenge over at Paper Cutz is to do a layout, card, or paper craft using a banner for New Years. I choose the colors of black, silver, and gold for my layout. I think this will be perfect for the grandchildrens page for their 2011 album. I used several Cricut cartridges for this layout. I will make a couple more since I have 3 beautiful angels. I have been under the weather for a few weeks with pain to my ride side, but with medication and physical therapy I am finally getting better and will get back to doing what I love and that is crafting. I had a couple projects I wanted to do for the holidays but not sure they will get done, but then we have Valentines Day around the corner. If we get anymore snow like we had this week, I will get lots of scrapping and cardmaking completed now that I can sit for longer periods.

New challenge for Paper Cutz #71

This weeks challenge was to use a snowman or snowflake making either layout, card, or papercraft. I decided on a layout because I am trying to plan ahead for all the pictures of my beautiful grandchildren opening their presents. I have been down for a couple weeks and not in my craft room much. I was sitting in my living room looking at my beautiful tree and mantle and got the inspiration from one of the grandchildrens stocking. I am working on the second page to this layout too. I used paper from CTMH and cricut cartridge for the snowflakes, words, and snowman. Please join us over at Paper Cutz this week and enjoy creating!

Not much crafting going on!

The last couple weeks, I have not even had much of a chance to work on anything. I have been experiencing pain from my right buttock down to my feet. I have been to the hospital for tests 3 times last week and hopefully the mri I had Friday shows something. Not much sleep and the pain pills and muscle relaxers do not work. They did schedule me to see a neurologist, but not till after the holidays. I got 3 cartridges on Black Friday and haven't even as much as looked at them yet. I am hoping today to maybe work on some Christmas cards. I have managed to do my challenges for the DT at Paper Cutz but that is about all. Now off to see if the doctor got the results back yet! Say a little prayer for me please.

Paper Cutz Challenge #66

I am a little later getting this up today because I was watching my granddaughter Peyton at her house today and did not take my laptop with me. This is our challenge for the week over at Paper Cutz. You are to make a card, layout or paper craft using any colors but it must be a Get Well and include ribbon and a flying object that can be digital, stamped, or die cut. I choose the butterfly from Indie Art Cricut cartridge. It is dimensional too. I have been under the weather most of the week so I decided on a card for this project. I used Bazzill cardstock and pattern paper I got at Hobby Lobby. I made the flower with two different flower punches and I used Kaiser Craft pearls.

A project I did for a gift!

This week I have been under the weather and starting to feel almost back to normal, whatever that may be lol! I have not done anything creative, but wanted to share what I did last week for my Daughter-in-law Jessica as a extra birthday gift. She loves the mini books I do and requested one for her to use for her tailgating pictures for the 2010 Ky Wildcat Football season. I made this using my Bind it All and I did purchase the page protectors that fit my book. She will be able to keep this book protected that way. Her book is 24 pages and I did put in a few pictures, but she can do the rest. I will show you just a few pages I made for this book. I also made a second one for a friend of hers that recently suffered a loss in her family and I hope she will enjoy it. I got the die cut for the front of this book in Pigeon Forge at the Super Scrapbook Store and wish I had gotten a couple more. They were expensive, but well detailed.

Some Trick or Treat Boxes

I have some special little ones who will be coming to go trick or treat this weekend and made them some special boxes for their treats. I bought some green take out boxes from Walmart and just decorated them. I made the others out of pattern cardstock Halloween paper. I also made some for my granddaughter Peyton's friends she goes to daycare with. I did a glass jar etching some cute Halloween designs and filled it with candy for her caregiver too. I love making things for the little ones and will be getting ideas ready for Christmas next!

My Cards this week.

This card is from my Copic class this week that my friend Lori over at SaintsRule Scrappin Corner taught this week. She designed the card and we colored it. I can only credit myself for the coloring and putting the card together, not the design. Lori gets all the credit on this one. Be sure to check out her blog by clinking on the link above.
This is a cute card I did with Mini Monsters and used PeachyKeen Stamps for the face. I also used a $1 stamp for the sentiment and the bat was a studio g stamp both came from Michaels several years ago.

This is a birthday card I made with scraps and I used Lacy Labels for the front piece and a $1 stamp I got at Michaels a long time ago for the Happy Birthday. I also used a Martha Stewart punch for the border on the side.

Card Patterns Challenge #83

Here is my card for Card Patterns sketch challenge #83 this week. I got into my stash and got some papers out to use. This is an old Chatterbox Christmas paper and I used both sides of it. I used my circle spellbinders for the circles and a stamped image from DRS Designs, colored it with Copic Markers. I just added a grosgrain bow to finish it off and popped up the Poinsettia image. I also used my Stampin Up border punch for the center piece. This was a fast and easy card and using a sketch makes it go really fast! Now to go work on another challenge!

Friday, September 24, 2010

Some new challenges this week.

I decided to get into a couple more challenges this week even though I am really busy trying to catch up a couple years I am behind in scrapbooking! Not sure I will ever catch up, but we will see. At least I will never run out of things to do. This first card is for Card Patterns sketch #82. Just click on their name above and have some fun with the sketch. My mother-in-law had open heart surgery yesterday so this is a card I made for her. I just used scraps for it. This next card is for Mojo Mondays #157 weekly sketch. I chose some Fall papers I got in a stack at Joann's. I usually do not do fall cards, but loved this paper. I participated in a mini autumn album swap and used this stack so these were some leftover scraps.

This challenge was really a challenge for me! Come on over to Paper Cutz and join the fun of this weeks challenge. Make a card, layout, or craft project for Halloween using any colors you like EXCEPT, NO orange or black. For me, this was fun. I had some paper that a friend had given me a stack of that was Halloween and it is had this purple and lime green paper. I used the Mini Monsters for the cutouts of the monster and ghost. They are popped up on the side of the bag and I used stickles on the title and the eyes of the cut outs. The title was also from Mini Monsters. Follow the link above and join in the fun this week!

Paper Cutz Challenge #58

Happy Friday! Hope everyone is going to have a super weekend. Stop on over to Paper Cutz and join this weeks challenge. Your challenge is to use a tag or tags anyway you want! It is a great, but simple challenge so please join in the fun! I decided to do my challenge in the form of a mini tag album with pictures of my granddaughter Peyton's first birthday. I used bright primary colors and used several images from the Doodlecharms cartridge. It was a simple album that I folded the 6 x 12 paper into 3 inch sections and cut the top to a tag form and decorated the front and back. I just used paper and stickers that were in my stash and this is a easy way to use up some old things and still create something special. I hope you like my tag book! Please follow the link above and join this challenge!
